Urban Knights Secure 5th NBL title
Urban Knights secured their 5th National Basketball League (NBL) title after a narrow 57-55 win over Upper Room Eagles in their third and deciding game on Thursday at the Stadium Courts.
Knights led 14-10 after the first quarter, but Eagles overturned that in the second quarter, outscoring the Knights 15-10 for a 25-24 half time lead.
A 15-15 third quarter meant Eagles led 40-39 going into the 4th quarter. But the Knights used an 18-15 4th quarter to eke out a 2 point win and a 5th national title.
Finals MVP Nicholai Brown record 16 points and 16 rebounds for the Knights, while Omar Barnes added 10 points and 6 rebounds.
Anthony White led the way for the losers with 16 points and 12 rebounds and D’Andre Forbes had 11 points and 4 boards.
Urban Knights became the first team to lift the trophy since it was renamed the Marland Nattie Trophy in honour of the former national player and administrator who passed away in October.
