Career Night for Bryan, but Redhawks Fall Short

Graduate Christeina Bryan delivered a standout performance for the Seattle U women’s basketball team on Thursday night, scoring a career-high 23 points. Despite Bryan’s efforts, the Redhawks fell 80-70 to Utah Tech at Burns Arena.

Bryan shot an impressive 63.6 percent from the floor, made seven field goals, and set a new career high with nine free throws. She also added a block and grabbed five rebounds.

Redshirt junior Tamia Stricklin contributed 19 points and led the team with eight rebounds, coming just one bucket short of her career best. Freshman Sydnie Rodriguez and graduate Taisiya Kozlova each secured seven rebounds, with Rodriguez adding eight points and tying her season high with two makes from behind the arc.

The Redhawks recorded 40 percent shooting from the field, made eight three-pointers, and tallied 37 rebounds and 11 steals. They scored 22 points in the paint and 11 points off Trailblazer turnovers.

After trailing by 15 points in the first quarter, Seattle U fought back to pull within seven by the end of the first ten minutes. They outscored Utah Tech in the second quarter 19-18, trailing by six at halftime. The Redhawks kept pace with the Trailblazers in the third quarter, but Utah Tech secured the victory in the closing minutes.

Christeina Bryan’s exceptional performance was a highlight for the Redhawks, showcasing her scoring prowess and dedication on the court.
