Jamaica Falls Short in both FIBA 3×3 Quarterfinals

Both Jamaica’s men’s and women’s basketball teams were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the FIBA 3×3 AmeriCup, which concluded on Sunday.

The men’s team fought hard but lost 14-21 to the eventual champions, the USA. Nicholai Brown led Jamaica with six points, while Xavier Cheatham-Sewell contributed five points and five rebounds. James Parrott and Mitch Hahn each scored six points for the USA, who went on to defeat the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico in the semi-finals and finals, respectively.

The women’s team narrowly missed advancing to the semi-finals, losing 11-12 to Puerto Rico. Crystal Primm scored five points and grabbed four rebounds, while Tiffany Plummer added nine rebounds and four points. Puerto Rico advanced to the semi-finals but lost to a dominant USA team 8-21.
