2024 KFC Star Search Camp Scheduled for July 14-19
The upcoming KFC Star Search basketball camp, is set to take place from July 14-19 at GC Foster College. Paulton Gordon, President of the Jamaica Basketball Association, expressed his enthusiasm for this signature event aimed at developing young players from across Jamaica. With the presence of past NBA players and support from sponsors like KFC the camp provides a platform for budding talents to showcase their skills and potentially secure collegiate scholarships. Previous alumni have who attended the camp are Samardo Samuels (Cleveland Cavaliers), Josh Minott (Minnesota Timberwolves), Nick Richards (Charlotte Hornets) and Marcus McDonald, who recently represented Jamaica at the NBA’s Basketball Without Borders camp.
Gordon highlighted the camp’s impact on Jamaica’s national program and emphasized the continuous mentorship provided to young players. The involvement of quality coaches, international talent, and now the inclusion of the Bob Marley Foundation aims to ensure a conducive environment for aspiring athletes to flourish.
The camp will welcome up to 120 campers, comprising both All-Star and regular participants. Players who excel during the initial phases of the camp will receive exclusive invitations to participate in two additional days of training.
We look forward to witnessing the talent on display and the opportunities that the camp will bring for the future of Jamaican basketball.
