National Basketball League tips off on June 17
The long-awaited start of the National Basketball League (NBL) is over, as the competition missing over the last three years is set to tip off on June 17 at the National Stadium Courts with significant sponsorship support.
At yesterday’s official launch the Jamaica Basketball Association received a cash injection worth 6.2 million dollars to restart the competition that will feature 10 teams, including defending champions St Georges Slayers.
The Sports Development Foundation (SDF) came on board to the tune of Four Million dollars, Phoenix Health and Vision Center supported with One (1) Million dollars, while Lasco Jamaica and Gatorade joined forces with Six Hundred Twenty Thousand dollars each.
President of the Jamaica Basketball Association Paulton Gordon was elated and stated that he is already anticipating an exciting competition.
